Interesting. Where did you read that?

Looks like it was an earlier test from the same site: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Int...634.0.html

the link you posted seems updated and probably more realistic

How did you see that. The Passmark page does not even have this processor yet!

It should also be noted that this comes with a SATA SSD, not a PCIe NVMe SSD.

The NVMe drive is a 50 dollar upgrade.

May not be a deal breaker for some, but if I'm buying a new computer, I'm going with the most modern technology.

Edit: Looks like they redid the tests and passmark was much higher

Wow. And I thought that upto 4.9ghz boost (single core?) will come in handy and beat the Ryzen 5... if so, then Intel will be in big trouble.

Edit: that review was on jun 2019. The benchmark they did on July 2019 showed it beating the ryzen 7 3750h. That's a good thing.

FYI: they seem to be using UHD 620 (which is older) for graphics per notebook check here https://www.notebookcheck.net/Int...586.0.html

and this chip retails at $400 on intel's site. https://ark.intel.com/content/www...0-ghz.html

They'll be fine in the Xeon market.

My 2 year old 15T purchased from Costco does not have a removable (replaceable) battery. Huge negative!

So they did correct theirEARLIER benchmark. I was gonna say, how can a new chip be slower than their competitor's chip, must be a mistake.,.. and that link you provided did prove it. New intel chip is faster than "ryzen 7 3570H by a significant margin." That's good for everyone, competition competition COMPETITION! Lol

Previous comment stated that SVA stands for standard viewing angle. Not IPS.

No upgrade path to IPS listed.
Def deal-breaker for me 🙁

Would this be a good compter for everyday use? I know nothing about computer and my last two were super slow and barley useable.
The old saying "you get what you pay for" still holds true to this day. For a $500ish laptop, with the latest i7 chip, this is good for your daily stuff, but not for heavy gaming (maybe older titles and simpler games without high graphic details); can't even find any details what UHD graphic they are using for this. They will always cut some of the high end stuff as others have pointed out, not the best screen and SSD, not NVMe drive. Smaller battery life, too, which is usual for laptops at this price. So if you can live with those, I'd say get this. I would if I only need a daily laptop and can do some of the upgrades myself. Happy hunting!
