You can report any unscrupulous Walmart employee to Walmart corporate, and Walmart corporate will investigate. Give Walmart corporate the employee's full name and the store's address using the following link:

https://corporate.walmart.com/sto...e-feedback

I was able to get a clearance laptop this way last time. See below. Let the Walmart corporate and their asset protection team take care of it. Don't waste time arguing with any unscrupulous Walmart employee at the store because they will never get the item for you if they want item for themselves. The item is locked in a cage and not something you can walk in, grab it yourself, and pay for it. Good luck Stick Out Tongue

HP Warranty Update
This goes for anyone who bought one of the HP's - if the Warranty is showing expired on their site and in their support app there is a link to dispute the warranty status. Submit the form and attach a picture of your receipt and they will correct the warranty status to start from the day you purchased it.

I did this for mine, just took a picture of the receipt which showed the model and serial number and I had an email confirmation within a couple hours and now have a full warranty.

Link to instructions from their site - https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05084516

Oh, thank God… Had to drive two hours, but finally got the omen 17 inch. Between calling multiple stores, checking stock, and asking if I can buy the display models, this was the most difficult deal to get by far! But man, this is the best deal by far I've ever gotten too Perfect for my needs. Still don't really know why Walmart don't sell the display models beside some odd responses, but I'm happy with the $800 price tag of a brand new one so oh well.

Thanks OP!

They sometimes mark them as RTV, but I doubt if it ever even makes it that far. I found a matebook D marked RTV after they did a reset, but easily sweet-talked an associate into selling it.
But you have to be lucky to be there when they declare it rtv tho huh

Well there is definitely luck involved, but I wasn't very clear— I think displays either just sit there or get sold to customers by employees who know what they are doing. I believe there is a third option of marking the item as rtv/damaged/unsalable, which can be motivated by the item actually being damaged, or the store wanting to remove the item from being displayed. The latter can be motivated by a department "reset", or the store for some reason being afraid of selling a display computer and getting sick of having to tell people "no".

I see. Well I doubt those display models are gonna sit there for long. I just need a store where the manager allows to sell their floor models.

Well price dropped on brickseek at the store I put the Omen on layaway where it was originally $999. Deciding if I should go get it now or wait a few days, or weeks.

Another speculation of mine (that's all these are) is that the stores have to implement some kind of override to sell a display with its associated discount if the system believes they have any more or less than 1 left. This may be a motivating factor in not giving the "display discount". e.g. if the store "2 in stock" but one is being held by an employee or is a victim of whatever kind of shrink, and the employee/manager is not willing to sell a NIB unit after a display discount has been previously issued, or cop to having that shrink.
Which subsequently may be a motivating factor in not selling the display. e.g. customer wants the display and is aware of display discount, staff figures it's easier to just shove the thing in a bin behind the counter than it is to explain why they won't discount the display unit.
fwiw, again just speculation

I'd say it depends on how bad you want it. I've never heard of a store "misplacing" a layaway, but I'm sure it's happened, so the likelihood of it going missing will of course increase as time passes. Probably not a valid concern.
Another possibility, although also extremely unlikely, is the price increasing back to the price you paid or more. You wouldn't have to pay more, but you'd be missing that $200 discount. We've only seen Walmart clearance prices go back up a handful of times, so again I don't think this is a significant concern and only worth said insignificant consideration if you HAVE to have this laptop.

Otherwise, layaway is all about the laying away!

Ha! I was trying to say you are good to chill. On the very small chance that something will happen, worst case is you don't buy it. No big deal. You having put it on layaway makes me think you can wait til the next big deal if this one goes south. Big "if"!

I should've kept my mouth shut! Sorry.

Went to local Walmart as it said they had 2 of the Cyberpower Towers.
My plan was to layaway the item she said you cant layaway a clearance item. The girl went in back, said all they have is the display and no one was capable of unlocking it right now and someone else wanted it too. Who knows, maybe her. I didn't feel like battling
with someone who probably makes 16,000 a year and maybe wants this for her kid or something. I would have wanted it for 349.00--not 599.00

Yes the 17" is the hardest one to find. Only 1 store in my 200 radius has them

Does limited stock mean you have pretty low chance? How about in stock? I see one a bit away showing two in stock. Tempted to take a drive.

I just picked up a almost perfect display model HP 17. Is the screen 120hz or 144hz?

Also, got 25% off the $799 Smilie

Why do you post crap discounts like this prematurely? Just to be first or get reps? WAIT till its a SLICKDEAL not a sucker deal. smdh
Wow my bad I didn't think about accommodating only your needs before posting. You're right, next time I should post when they are heavily marked down and only 2 people can score the deal and you will be the first one commenting how it's a terrible deal because it's out of stock everywhere.

Walmart Clearance Stock Translator:

Limited stock = Probably not really there.

2 in stock = Probably not really there.

More than 2 in stock = Probably not really there.
