Someone already did. The Takstar. YouTube it.
different use-cases with this being a stereo mic vs the takstar being monaural.

Had this one and it was horrible. No wonder why it's so cheap now. The noise was annoying in post and had to always equalize the audio to correct it. Mine arrived with a rattling part inside the mic housing and had to swap it out for another one. My replacement mic was just as noisy and the switch to control the attenuation snapped clear off. Don't waste your $25!

Had anyone have experience with 3.5mm to micro usb adapter yet?, or used this microphone on Sony mirrorless camera yet?
Thanks
I have used a Rode NGT2 Nov with a DSLR many times and it rocks. It's a lot more expensive and you will have to buy an XLR to stereo miniport adapter but it's worth the money. It has phantom power built into it and uses double a batteries if I remember correctly.

Would these work on a PC as a stereo microphone for recording presentations and what not?

Damn, did you really wait 2 years trying to get a better price on a $100 mic?
What a SlickDealer, i should learn from you.
I would have bought it in like 1~2 month into my wait.
On the other hand if you're a SlickDealer then you would know this is no $100 mic, regardless of quoted list price or what some sellers might be asking. SDr's want to know real going prices and past deals to evaluate. I just bought this mic - but not because I think I'm saving $75 on a $100 mic, lol.

the only 2 one-star reviews on amazon (which brought the average down from a 4 to a 3) were about 1 mic being DOA and the other about customer service; neither were about the mic's functioning. all but 1 of the remaining reviews said the mic itself was good.

The retail price appears to be inflated. This appears to be good for lower-cost cameras.

That's because I never needed it - it was just a "want". Currently, I use a wireless Samson lavaliere mic set with my camera. Current set-up captures better sound, but it's kind of a nuisance to have to carry around the wireless set (transmitters, receivers, batteries, chargers, etc).
