I would love 32gb and I think these are one of the better sets but I still think ram prices have room to drop especially with a-die coming soon

I cant believe I paid $229 for 2x8GB of these back on release date.
I'd buy these but as someone else mentioned, prices are dropping and who knows what we'll get in November, so I'll wait.

Is there a reason to use 4x8gb?
You won't be able to realize dual channel memory benefits and I believe it taxes the mobo's memory controller more dampening memory performance even further.

So is better to use 2 16 sticks than 4 8 sticks??

Always, unless you have a 4 channel DDR4 motherboard

Why won't you get dual channel memory benefits with 4 sticks? I think you are mistaken.

My Asus X470 has 4 sticks and runs in dual channel mode with 3200 C14.

Forgot about quad channel mobos, but really it all boils down to what you have and what is the most cost effective and worth it for you.

Quad channel setups boast more memory bandwidth just as dual channel does over single, but doing a quick search, real world application (with games at least) show minimal improvements. If it's in your range and not too much more expensive, you might as well.

Populating all four DIMM slots does not affect the ability for enabling dual channel mode.

I stated that incorrectly...what I mean is that timings will get reduced (command rate 2 instead of 1) and reduce performance compared to 2x16GB. Also it will have a negative impact on the clock speed which really can cut performance...so in those ways you won't be getting all the benefits of dual channel you would had you gone 2x16GB.

Dang. I just got two sets of CRUCIAL 32GB 16X2 D4 3200 C16BSLT for 250. I would pay $50 more for rgb. Will these overclock the same cause they're cas16 3200?

Now I haven't vetted these results but the testing in this video appears to point to quad RAM yielding 10-30% performance increases in functional performance (i.e. FPS).

I wish he used identical RAM but at least the RAM was physically similar in spec (3000MHz and CL16).
