Rear you might want more direct sound. I think these are best as side surrounds. I bought stands because wall mounting wasn't an option and the connection post were RIGHT in the way of the mounting bracket so it was a pain to work around so I'd look out for that when looking for stands. The rounding off of the front of the speaker make the clamp type stands not an option.
I'm looking at stands for these right now, anything in particular you'd recommend?

I managed to make these work setting up the bracket a bit different than instructed, but I wouldn't recommend them. I couldn't find a better option however. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PXWX...FDb7896XH7

I didn't want to screw into the bottom so that option was out. Configured the bracket to make them work but the speakers only have the one keyhole in the back which is right above the wire connections, so it was awkward and couldn't use banana plugs which was annoying but not the end of the world. You can tell they manufactured these with only wall mounting in mind

Are these good as laptop speakers or are they overkill?
They would not make good laptop speakers. They are bipoles and you need a amp. Best speakers for the money are jbl lsr305 I see them for $90 each self powered. Just get a cable and Hooke them up to your laptop or Bluetooth dongle

FYI, these speakers are not bipole OR dipole (although they do have horns facing 90 degrees from one another). They're some "special sauce" that Klipsch cooked up:

WDST (Wide Dispersion Surround Technology)
As the cornerstone of every Klipsch surround speaker, proprietary Wide Dispersion Surround Technology (WDST) provides astounding sonic detail for rooms with less-than-ideal placement configurations. This technology provides maximum surround coverage and placement flexibility.

I was totally happy with them with music and movies, but then I tried playing GTAV and it became painfully obvious how poorly they image with my existing front speakers. When I pan the camera around, the sound doesn't move from speaker to speaker seamlessly like it should. So I think they're going back :\

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I wonder why that is. My tower speakers are Klipsch so hopefully I don't have the same problem.

p.s. I don't play video games so if you didn't notice any problems with movies then I should be fine right?

You'll probably be fine since you don't play video games & your other speakers are Klipsch. Mine are JBL though and I was initially very pleased with these surrounds when just playing music and movies. They're definitely an upgrade from the surrounds I was using before. They're simply not a match for my JBLs though (which I wouldn't have even noticed had I not fired up GTAV...for me GTAV is the gold standard for testing speakers' panning/imaging ability).

Got mine Friday. Huge improvement over my old front presence and back surrounds. In my experiences so far, they work seamlessly with my Klipsch towers. Great upgrade to my theater room! Thank you!
