Back in the day the Omen was the ultimate horror flick but compared to current films it's more of a kids movie today.

Good to know the first 1976 film has a UHD release. I'll pick that up whenever it hits $5. Unfortunately, I wouldn't spend a dime on the rest of the series.

Good when I was a kid... but didn't age very well as a "classic" horror series.

First movie was good. The rest went downhill IMO.

You know what's really scary? The first movie is almost 45 years old. EEK!

My favorite thing about Brightburn is it looks like they got the idea from looking at Richard Donner's imdb page...

Hmmm

The Omen (1976)
Superman (1978)

WAIT A SECOND!

Any horror heavy in blood and gore.

Real horror doesn't need all that garbage.

Nope, it isn't needed, but it also isn't garbage. Why not just come out and admit that you are not a horror fan and are pretty ignorant about the subject while you're at it? Stay in your lane.

As for this deal, as everybody else has said, watch the original, and only watch the sequels if you are extremely curious and a glutton for punishment.

Actually, I love horror movies. But I'm a fan of those that can draw me in and scare me without extreme violence. A good story far outweighs gratuitous violence.

Also, having an opinion that differs from yours does not make me ignorant. Please, have a seat and a good night.

Gore is great if it's done right (watch bone tomahawk if you haven't) but it means little by itself. Omen 2 has that crazy scene where the dude gets chopped in half by the elevator cable. they started ratcheting up the violence and went for weird kills.

Everyone has their own "version" of the horror genre they like. Even horror critics put these films into different horror subcategories.

I'm with you, story first, effects and gore second. It's just too bad many of the newer Thriller type horror films get totally ruined by crap cgi and junky third acts like The Nun, The Winchester etc.

The original omen was not really a horror film, it was a religious thriller-suspense film with great storytelling. Gregory Peck was not going to be in a horror flick

The scariest part of these movies is the soundtrack. At least on the 1st one.
