In the past people were able to stack different promotions and got multiple gift cards and free stuff from sam's club. I am sure it can be done again. check this link [andhrafriends.com] or Here [reddit.com].

I've had Costco for over 15 years, but I've joined Sam's twice over the past five years due to the amazing groupon specials. The first time, I ended up going 3 times in one year and then canceled. The second time, I only went once in a year and then canceled. The two clubs are literally 1 minute away from each other in location, but here are my observations.

Costco carries higher quality items, and the employees are treated well and happy to be there. Shopping at Sam's is like shopping at Walmart. The whole experience just feels a bit sketchy.

Costco has healthier food options, but if you like junk food, Sam's has more selection. If you're on a budget and feeding a family, I think you could get more value out of Sam's. Costco has started to carry more and more organic items, which cost more, but are a great deal for organic.

The one thing I like better about Sam's is that their bakery does custom cupcakes and they are pretty good. Other than that, the shopping experience at Sam's just makes me not want to go there.

I don't mean to sound like a snob. I used to shop at Walmart all the time for many years, but lately have found Target to be worth paying a bit more. That's probably the best comparison. Shopping at Costco is like shopping at Target. While shopping at Sam's is like shopping at Walmart. I'm not here to bash either company, just being honest about the experience.

Unfortunately we just signed up for a membership. We were always a Costco family, but just moved to an area where we actually had a Sam's club and thought we'd try it out. While I love Costco's selection of products, we end up going to Sam's about 4 out of 5 times just because it is SOOO much easier to get in and out of. Their scan and go app where you just use your phone to scan items as you put them in the cart and then just walk out the door is amazing. I really hope Costco embraces tech a little more and comes up with something similar... they only finally just got virtual membership cards in their app, but I haven't gotten it to even work yet.

Location... There was a Sam's club kind of on my way home... But they closed. Now it's a good 40 minute detour. Unlike Costco, this is a dying breed.

Yea I am on the fence about joining. The offer is attractive, but it seems like whenever I sign up, I never use it, or only go in once and get their amazing pretzel/pop deal.. decisions decisions...

That's exactly what I am holding up too.
I have costco through my job, but I am in the middle of moving in to a new home,
just walked in to a sam's yesterday and saw some stuff costco doesn't have them and the prices are very good, so it might be a few times visiting only.
so if groupon's deal could be back soon like last time, pay $45 for 2x$20 (or $25) of GC plus this $25 cash back and other goodies (chicken, pizza, etc..), that'll be great!!
thanks again for posting.

Amex terms state you must join through Samsclub.com\JoinAmex

A certain other website is offering a $20 e-gift card when you join. Just wondering if anyone know how strict this is and if it will stack..
