This has been frontpage at this price several times, and at $1,700 as a refurb, so this seems to be a sweet spot for this projector. I'm personally holding out for it to fall another $500 over the next year. I have no logical reason to think this will happen: Just fingers crossed!

The HU80KA is the flagship LG projector. It is the least-expensive laser-engine projector with HDR currently on the market. Between the 4k (3840 x 2160) native resolution, bulb life (over 20,000 hours, estimated), HDR, and brightness (2500 lumens claimed), it's a solid projector at the price.

Note that this projector uses Texas Instruments' eXpanded Pixel Resolution technology. It uses pixel shifting to achieve 4k (additional explanation from Projector Central projectorcentral.com[/url]]). I'm okay with this, and I can't tell the difference watching two giant robots battling underwater anyway, but there it is for full disclosure.

You can read more detailed reviews here:

There are two material downsides:
1) There is no 3D compatibility, but I don't watch any 3D content, so not my concern.
2) Input lag is over 70ms, so if you're a "serious gamer" this could be an issue for you.

$2,449.99 at Costco FYI. I'm not in the market currently or else I would consider it. Laser means never having to replace a lamp.

Great find! It uses XPR (pixel shifting) as well, but at a $1,799 MSRP it looks like it'll be a great deal, especially if you don't need the portable form-factor of the HU80KA.

Make these do 3d

Do people really use 3D? I have it on my tv and have never used it so when I bought my uh50 projector I didn't think twice about upgrading to the projector with 3D. Maybe I'm missing something?

Is this a ultra-short projector?
