Craftsman 12.5 inch bench top planer Normal price 529.99, Sale 198.94.

Lets be realistic, there is no way this thing retails for 530 clams. But for 200 bucks for what is probably an entry level planer, I don't think you can beat that. Even Horror freight is 330 bucks for their planer.

Review Summary
High Points: ↑ Auto-locking two-knife cutterhead and magnetic tool make knife changes easy. ↑ The smooth, flat granite table won't warp. Low Points: ↓ Short infeed and outfeed tables (7") provide less support for long workpieces. ↓ No preset thickness stops and no depth-of-cut gauge. ↓ It comes only with a 2" dust port. ↓ At 99 dB running without load, it's the loudest in our test of 11 benchtop planers.

I'm in for 1. Talked to customer service to waive the shipping fee and got an extra 10% off for being nice to customer service. $195.61 out the door.

My grandpa bought one a few years ago, it looks basically the same and he never complained about it, dunno if anything has changed. If I didn't have a Shopsmith I'd grab one.

I love what you put in the description about the retail price, that's spot on lol. If someone is looking for an entry level planer, 200 bucks is a sweet deal. If you have a good chunk of money to drop though, you should spring for a higher end one. I bought my ridgid 12.5" planer for 3-400 iirc and I'm very happy with it

It's the same as the wen . I doubt this has the cutter head lock but i didn't check specs closely, but iirc it is and looks identical to the wen.
Wen is heavy as heck kinda bugs me as i move it around a lot maybe it's the granite which seems useless because the infeed/outfeeds are short so you're going to build an infeed/outfeet table thru the machine anyways. I don't do anything fancy, just run 2x4 pine though mine all the time but works good enough, i'm not doing anything where i really bother to tune it as it looks to be too much of a pita anyways.

At 200 bucks it's ok i think the cheapest the wen went for was around 225

I've been tempted. Another Sears piece that's actually in stock near me.... Not biting, though.
