You know I generally agree with the deals you post, but in this case I just don't understand why anyone would be tempted to pick one of these up when the 1080p, Ryzen 3 Asus is available for $279.

I suppose there's people that just cannot accept using a 15.6" laptop even though the ASUS is only .28 lbs heavier.

Same reason for the below deal to be a popular Deal: -

That isn't a FP deal. Did you link to the wrong one?

While I don't necessarily agree with it, I can see why someone who really wants a touchscreen rather than a 1080p display would pick up that model instead. However, purely from a value standpoint it doesn't make much sense to forgo 1080p or a touchscreen just to save 30 bucks on this Staples HP.

I meant Popular deal. I also agree with you about the Asus Viivobook being a better deal. But lot of people prefer Intel and may need the 14" form factor.

The IPS screen and warranty is worth it for most people. I'd still buy this one at Costco.

Both memory and ssd can be upgraded by opening the back cover. It also has one empty 2.5 inch bay for 2.5" ssd or hdd.

It's interesting that laptops have been more expensive in the last couple years. All of a sudden, they're dropping a lot more in price again. Tariffs factor?

The prices on laptops did not go up the last couple of years. And if tariffs on PCs - which haven't begun because they've been delayed until December - had any effect on pricing, prices would go up, not down.
