BTW, Samsung Q70R 75" is right now $2599 at Costco and you get 15% back (that's $390 back, making the TV only 2599 - 390 = $2209). It also comes with 5 years manufacturer warranty! Wtih costco extra 2 years warranty that's 7 years of worry free usage! And if you pay with Costco visa, I believe it's 9 years warranty!! Just saying... in case you don't have EPP and are interested.

Beyond Dolby vision, the Sony TV offers a true Android experience which means app availability and longevity will be longer than Samsung. I own a Samsung 55" curved 4k tv, bought when they first came out for some good money. The smart TV apps are a fail, no updates and half no longer work correctly.

Android updates are a joke. I prefer modularity based on my 20+ years in Software industry. So, I like to isolate the TV's display part from its smart part. A TV at this price point should have at least 7 to 8 years of life expectancy. Smart TV platforms are cheap and I own both Apple TV 4K and a fire stick 4k. The best thing about Samsung is Tizen integrates all the external devices with its hot HDMI switching (I think they call it fast switching). All my devices show up in the bottom bar and they feel like native Apps. I am also pleased to notice that my HDHomerun shows up in the device list and I can even watch live TV as if it's a native App. Not to mention Android TV platform is very slow to start up. I don't want to switch on my TV and wait a long time for it to get ready. Also, Sony has the tendency of delivering faulty android update. E.g.: https://www.reddit.com/r/bravia/c...dium=web2x

No TV is perfect. Choose your poison. A very detailed side by side review between Q70R and Sony XG95 (European model number for X950g) can be found at https://www.avforums.com/review/s...view.16191

There is a video from that article https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk6xcWLuXeU

Jump to 15 minutes and you will see a whole bunch of comparison. Choose your poison!!

Also, there is a mirror video from the same source that focuses more on X950g and compares it with Samsung Q70R: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EbF9QxbmxA

Note, the final verdict from that very reputed certified source is Samsung gets a 8/10 and Sony gets a 7/10.
Also note that reviewer used a 55 inch model. The 75 inch model with x-wide filter is supposed to have even worse contrast ratio.

Also, Jfalkingham, please note that recent Samsung TVs are significantly better than older TVs. Samsung really innovated in last few years while Sony sat on their laurel. The 2019 QLED TVs come with AI upscaling which is significantly better than even last year's model. 2019 TVs also come with Alexa and Google home integration. It even has built in Apple TV app and Airplay 2. I know Sony will get that at some point. But I would rather have it on day 1 than depending on some hollow promise.

EDIT: forgot to mention one more thing that I noticed no one talks about online. You can setup Smartthings integration on Samsung. I have Ring cameras installed all around the house and every time there is a motion a small pop up with real time video feed shows up. I consider that super useful. Ring video doorbells are also supported. You can configure which devices to allow notification or disable altogether etc.

I apologize my first message was mean.

Anyways, your post doesn't help anyone. This isn't a post for a Samsung. We understand you're happy with your purchase. If you like your Samsung so much, why are you still active daily on a deals website?

Some people prefer Sony. We all know how to locate Rtings reviews. Some of us have owned this TV and have real experience with it. Just let people buy what they want and stop commenting that this is "junk" when it's one of Sony's best non OLED TVs. I'm not commenting on your posts saying that an OLED is way better and the Q70 is the worst TV.

I track sales of many different items, not necessarily because of my need. You can consider it as my hobby. I visit slickdeals many times a day and so I notice deals.

Now, I am not forcing anyone to buy Samsung over Sony. But people visiting this thread are entitled to know different opinions and make a informed decision. My last post was referencing expert opinions. I would request you do the same, instead of blaming me "not helping". You can tell your side (not just personal opinion, but expert links) and buyers can weigh. I gain nothing whether someone buys Samsung or Sony.

I prefer sony's Image processing. There is just something about their TVs. I'm a a Sony fan boy, so maybe I'm imagining it. Hoping the 85inch will go sub $2700 by next year...
