Great price on these headphones. Open back sound stage, but still plenty of bass. I could go on and on about these, but they're just a really "fun" sounding headphone--near the top of the pile in their price range, and they can be driven pretty easily without an amp. Pair with a V-Moda Boom Pro [amazon.com] and you've got one of the best gaming headsets money can buy.

No idea if the seller has 10 in stock or 10,000 ("PHOTOTECH" is the seller, fulfilled by Amazon and Prime eligible), so there's no way to know how long this will actually stick around.

QA Update: In stock on September 20, 2019.

Wow, it was $179 by Amazon after staying at $149 for almost a month. Got one from last time, and I am pretty happy about it. (In fact, two, because found another one from amazon warehouse then returned one...)

This set has a V-shaped sound, so you would expect:

Bass: fairly strong beats, I think the quantity is excellent if you care about, and the quality is decent if not great.

Mid: not thin, but not emphasized, still has a warm tone.

Treble: this is tricky. Initially, it was a little sibilant, but after playing it for about a week, the sibilance became weaker. Swapped earpads with another set, nothing really changed.

Sound stage for the headphones is quite open, and the image of the headphones is decent but not top tier.

The sound is not neutral but it's well-rounded. In other words, it is not perfect for anything.

I would say if you don't manage to get an amplifier, this could be the best you could get, even for classical music. I used this for digital piano and some casual playing.

If you have a decent amp, you can expect more clarity, which is like what @keyoftruth said for being not quite noticeable for the average audience.

Cons: The earpads make you feel warm easily...

Wish there was a way I could avoid paying state sales tax. The last 3-4 times these have gone on sale has been for this price; all of which were through Amazon with tax Frown
Fewer and fewer stores seem to be carrying X2, especially at a discount. Newegg drops it to $180 from time to time. I've heard the cheaper Philips SHP9500 has some similarities to the X1/X2 (less bass, but half the sale price), and it seems to be found at more retailers.

For a long time amazon only charged tax in my state if the item was sold by amazon itself, so third party sellers being fulfilled by amazon still had no tax. Earlier this year that changed and everything charges tax. I'm still mad.

It was PHOTOTECH, didn't get the prime 2 day but the free ship is supposed to be from the 19th to the 24th and the condition is listed as very good - Near New item, in its original open package, tested works like New!

Less than a third of the price. Slightly less clarity, definitely missing a lot of bass that makes these sound "fun." I own both. Think the 9500 is a way better value since the Fidelios while it has a lot more bass still doesn't have much. Perhaps open cans can't have that much to begin with compared to closed cans.

This is a phenomenal headphone and a fantastic value. These headphones are built for your children to inherit as a family heirloom, no joke. They are among the best audio quality that do not require an amplifier and the sheer comfort put these on a whole new level. Spending any more money than this on a headphone is hard to justify for an average listener. If you are in the market for an open back headphone, buy this now.

The only reason not to buy these is if your livelihood depends on perfect sound reproduction or if you need a closed back, portable alternative.

Shopping for a gaming headset. Is this headphone a better experience? Compared to other gaming headset with gimicky features?
