"Any bomb, grenade, machine gun, sawed-off shotgun with a barrel less than 18 inches, firearm specially made or specially adapted for concealment or silent discharge, any blackjack, sandbag, metal knuckles, dagger, knife, razor or cutting instrument, the blade of which is exposed in an automatic way by switch, push-button, spring mechanism, or otherwise, any stun gun, stun baton, taser or other electronic or electric weapon or other implement for the infliction of serious bodily injury which serves no common lawful purpose."

It's been argued they have common lawful purpose, which is why they are being sold. So, if any rich guys here wanna take one for the team....... lol Please

3 months for DUI, 7 months for knife. Welcome to PA! If the pot holes don't kill you, the legal system might.

Knife laws in America are some of the dumbest ever, I'm more paranoid to carry a little knife around than anything else. 🤦 ♂️

Agreed; I had the same idea. Sadly I live in PA where I can open carry a gun without any type of license but I can't have a knife that opens with a spring. Womp womp.

SOG sale on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/s?i=sporti...0_657cb3d8

Sadly these aren't legal in PA or I'd be all over this deal. I highly suggest checking your local laws on spring assisted knives.

I seem to have lost my EDC Kershaw Select Fire on my last inflatable kayaking trip (I know, it's funny), so I'm in for both types. I'll keep one and give the other to my friend. The CCC history seems to indicate this is great price for both. Almost 50% off? And same day delivery for me? Cool.

edit: both = SAT002 and SAT003

Good brand?
They are known for being high quality, but along the lines of Kershaw and Gerber. That being said, here's another one. SOG Specialty Knives & Tools TFSA6-CP Flash Rescue Knife with Part-Serrated Folding 3.5-Inch Steel Sheepsfoot Blade and GRN Handle, Black TiNi Finish https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004VS0...FDbSGYN3EY

OP had a good find, thanks!

Hikes. I travel to PA very few years for business and will have to leave this at home. Does having a CC change anything?

Negative; they aren't legal. A guy was arrested for a DUI a few years ago and had the knife in his car. He got more months in jail via his plea deal than he got for the DUI. Don't give the legal system any additional ammo against you.

Is this law state-wide in PA or just some select cities? Hadn't heard about this.

I think some people are confused by this knife. This knife doesn't have a spring mechanism or push button that opens it. It is opened up just like a regular folding knife and with the thumb stud. SOG Assisted means that I simply can unlock it with ease. It doesn't mean "spring assist" like a switch blade.

I have a SOG Mini x-ray vision (awesome knife!) and it is opened just like this knife..... No spring action. "switch blade". Opened with the thumb. Legal.

*Just read that gravity knives are legal in NY now. The law was changed in May 2019. Interesting.
-----------------------

Update: After further looking around, I was right about SOG (SAT) assist system being legal in NY but wrong about the term spring assisted. Spring assist refers to making it easier to flick open due to little tension. Check your state laws from knifeup.com.

For PA? It is legal according to this...

The PA laws are more vague than other states. Read this carefully about restricted knife in PA. Maybe that is why they are sold all over in PA stores.

Restricted Knives:
Any knife 'the blade of which is exposed in an automatic way by switch, push-button, spring mechanism, or otherwise,' is restricted. This restriction should not apply to 'assisted opening' or 'gravity' knives based on doctrine of strict construction and interpretation of the statute by the PA courts. (See discussion below).

No spring assisted. I noticed that they were selling these knives at Dicks Sporting Goods in NY a couple years ago.
