Can someone explain Octane to me? I am all set with the brushless hammer drill, impact driver and impact wrench along with some 2ah and 4ah batteries from Ridgid. Is Octane a totally different tool or is it basically same tool but bigger batteries?

The tool themselves are the same thing but the batteries are better and will make your 5gen tools alot better.

Anyone have a break down? May return everything and keep the single tool minus the battery.

Ok thanks

I will stick with what I've got then

I actually like the smaller batteries for my drill and impact driver. For the impact wrench, I use the larger 4ah. I can't imagine the need to carry around a 6ah or 9ah or whatever they Octaned them up to now. Heavy for no reason (for me - I can understand if someone is building decks all day long they may want the big battery)

I wish Rigid would start producing lawn tools that would work with this ecosystem...they could be killing it.

Has anyone figured out a way to get this deal to work in store? Looks like the fine print says online only, but just curious if anyone has figured out how to get it to work in store.

AEG (the supposed builder of Ridgid 18V tools) has outdoor equipment, so it appears it is a decision made by Home Depot not to introduce those tools here.

Does any one know if the ridgid batteries work with the 18v AEG lawn gear (string trimmer)? I use a Ryobi string trimmer now... but the batteries only last about 2 years.

I also need a jig saw and nailer (and some extra spare batteries with LSA) to complete my Ridgid collection.

I just need the extra tools, I already have the drills. I wish they have deal just on the tools. I need the saw.

I have been waiting for a good deal on Ridgid BRUSHLESS small tool kit and ordered the recriprocating saw and the JobMax Multi-tool. Also, separately got the cordless blower that runs off the same batteries (not as strong as a gasolline leaf blower, but good for blowing out the garage and sidewalks). Not sure I need the hammer drill, but I will take it as part of a great price on the other tools I do want. I like Dewalt tools also, but this is a better price for brushless and has 3 Ah + 6 Ah batteries (lifetime guarantee) compared to smaller batteries with Dewalt.
Good find and recommended!
