Not sure if it just my experience, but all my recently purchased APCs were dead after 2-3 years but all other brands are still going strong ...

It is simulated sine wave. I don't even bother with simulated anymore and only buy pure sine-wave UPS units. I used to only buy APC, but they go through batteries way too quickly. I've switched to CyberPower PFCLCD units and they've worked very well with my equipment for the past few years.

I wonder APC don't last because they switch over to battery too often. And I assume each battery can only recharge so many times and if they keep using the battery and recharging it, it will kill the battery faster?

Excellent! Thank you for the info. Was planning on getting one of those Cyberpower units. Need the pure sinewave for my Unraid server.

NO -- APC is simply using low end JUNK batteries ...

Agreed. My team all got APC battery backups for our workstations and 3 of the 5 of us have already had the battery die. Mine went first, about 2-3 months after purchase.

On a positive note, the RMA process was very smooth and my replacement has been working fine (for now).

Sorry this is not relevant at all but I just bought one of these while traveling to a field site in East Africa (needed one fast because of my own oversight, oops) and it cost $470 Frown. What a ripoff

from my experience with a lot of APC units and a good number of cyberpower the difference is that the APC will let you know the battery is dead before you needed it whereas the cyberpower just.. dies when the power goes out and beeps at you in a mocking fashion.

good luck i guess

This isn't your Dad's APC. They used to be the gold standard, now, not so much.
