Best Buy totally matched the deal for me. Not only did they match the price, I also use $115 in rewards to sweeten the deal! Thanks OP

Did not have a similar experience. Did you price match by chat?

Yes, the CS agent was very good and had no issues with matching the deal. Anyway, I just looked and the deal has expired! Back to $1199

I just purchased on Amazon with likely the best return policy anyway. Wasn't thinking about time zones and Adorama offer ended 9pm PST. Adorama would have been best at a flat $899 Whereas Amazon has $70 in taxes which starts to kill the deal. I earlier considered the ideal situation would have been Adorama on eBay where on the checkout page it said they would give $8.99 in ebay bucks off that same flat price at closer to $892. Instead by being cornered to Amazon it cost me around $970 after all fees. Not the end of the world. Assuming Best Buy was a similar story for the price matchers. If you have a shop card and get 12 months financing this is a good chance to take advantage of that and add other items you've meant to buy. Similarly if your credit card has a limit lower than the price of the telescope it could have been possible to buy a gift certificate for the remaining value with real cash then apply it since pretty sure you can't choose to pay with multiple cards and may not afford to spend that much in pure cash. This purchase gave a lot to think about. Hope these ideas come in useful for the rest of you.

Tell your friend: If that is your real intention, then all you have to do is to save your money, go ahead, introduce yourself in a correct way and in no time you will be in that bathroom, doing things no Telescope, microscope, endoscope allow you to do! After all, there is nothing more important than the power of words! Only if you can get out of that couch and staying off SD's web page or virtual miserable life. In short: "Get Real".

The peeve I have with telescopes is that all the stars will look pretty much exactly the same today and 100 years from now and so forth. So you are basically buying something to see something that was, is and will be photographed exactly the same, when you can just go online and look at the pics...
There's quite an art in capturing, stacking and editing. Something you can sit back and say, "I made this".

For me it's about the satisfaction of successfully navigating to and appreciating that fuzzy galaxy or wispy nebula with a manual dobsonian scope, with a glass of whisky, in the middle of Death Valley with other likeminded folk. Also fun showing the spoils with delighted noobs, especially Saturn.

Boo, waited too long. Seems dead on amazon, adorama, and BH. Was hoping to wait for an ebay bucks 10% offer with adorama ebay being 899. Didn't realize it would disappear so fast.
I am done shopping with bestbuy unless it is to rip them off. Spent so much money with them over 15 years and they refuse to price match for me but have no problem with other people.

I got one longtime ago... but now I want a WiFi telescope... find things on the app based on your location and telescope will adjust automatically.

I think you were a bit fortunate there. From what I've read, B&H were removed from BB's list of online vendors back in April. Maybe the CS rep didn't realize the policy had changed.
