Hmm, every other person in this thread uses an e-ink reader — and no doubt has read from an LCD screen too, so is aware of their differences. Seems like your point of view might be the outlier here... Not interested in trying to talk you into the virtues of e-ink, but perhaps your time and wisdom might be better spent somewhere else.

Confusing choice of words. But if it says waterproof (which it does), then yes it the most current version of the paper white.

Damn, thought i got a deal at $100 for a used PW4 32gb, but apparently not...

32GB is $115, which is what i would nab. I could manage my library and send to my kindle, or just load a boatload of ebooks and bring a library with me.

got the Kobo Aura for $50 last week from Walmart, converted all my books to epub took me 15min. love the open format with lot's of free books available online. i actually like the Kobo experience better than the kindle.

also, don't have to deal with the amazon 2 week book borrowing nonsense from friends and relatives anymore.

Does the Kobos link to your smart phone, sharing the books and your location/bookmarks/highlights in the book? I currently have a voyage whose battery is starting to suffer and I figure it will be time to replace in a year or so. Before I went voyage, I seriously considered going with the high end kobo but ultimately decided on the voyage (just after launch when it had the superior screen vs that paperwhite). Now that I am used to the nice integration between the device and my phone, it is a major priority for me moving forward.
