It is one of the better drug store brands. Quality differs by individual product; the ratings on their website are usually pretty accurate.

Dollar Tree sells Elf too on occasion.
Just be mindful that even within the same brand there can be different lines of products. For example, my wife like Essie brand nail polish. She went to an upscale salon with sister-in-law and they were using Essie too - but the nail tech said there are different types of Essie. Ones in a twisted bottle are better than the straight-sided kind you find at discount stores.

I'd imagine Elf has mainline and discount/value lines within their same brand. (Doesn't seem like good marketing on their part (watering down the brand), but I'm a guy and know nothing about makeup.) All just FYI.

It's like this with a LOT of different products. You can go to Walmart's pharmacy & compare the store brand cough syrup with the name brand & they'll both have the same exact ingredients. Now I wonder where the store brand came from?

Companies are going to do what they can before they take a total loss.

Dollar Tree also sells E.L.F.

The store brand is probably manufactured in the same name brand factories? Agreed, this practice is so common now. Brands like Banana Republic etc have their lower-tier factory equivalent. Macy's has the Backroom stores to cater to budget conscious customers..

For cosmetics, there's actually a practical reasons for the different price range. Products targeting mature skin usually has anti-aging ingredients which are pricier and more complex to develop. Likewise for special needs skin eg acne, oiliness, sensitivity etc etc. Can't fault the higher price tag compared to the basic products, just gotta know what we're buying into.

And Ulta carries e.l.f. too Smilie

It was a rhetorical comment. I've known for years that the some name bands make store brands.
The more ingredients in a lot of things, not just cosmetics will make products pricier.
You're right, I forgot about Ulta. Smilie
