Can you watch movies from prime video on this? Without having to load them onto a memory card or whatever?

You can use it as a regular tablet too, you have a child profile and regular adult profile on it. With regular profile, I guess you can watch prime videos thru the prime video app (i.e. stream them).

16 GB is adequate, as it's mostly the apps that will use the space. This tablet isn't a big gaming tablet, so the apps and games that can actually run on it will be relatively small. It supports MicroSD as well, and downloaded videos can go there (i.e. from Prime Video, Netflix, etc.).

Buy this and your child will quickly become an expert at space management. They will know exactly which apps they can delete to make room for a new one, over and over and over again. Even "basic" apps will fill this up quicker that you can say Roblox. The majority of apps will not run on SD, so that can help with movies, but is largely useless for increasing app space. The 32gb versions come up on Amazon warehouse on a semi regular basis for this price or less. For your own sanity, I would recommend waiting to grab one of those if you can..

16GB will take a decent time to fill up, but I wouldn't buy this, not due to the space but the value. I bought a couple of the 32GB versions with matching case for around $3 each on Prime Day with Amex discounts. That price may not come by again, but this and the HD 8 without kids stuff has been much cheaper.

This Kids version, which comes with a year of Free Time unlimited, is not a good value for me. You're basically paying an additional subscription for things that are already a part of Prime membership (videos, books, etc) but tuned for kids and double charging. For example, you already have access to free Prime Video stuff, you need to pay to have access to those in FreeTime mode. I just run in regular mode (not kids FreeTime mode) with parental controls on. So in summary, 16 GB would be sufficient and all apps should be approved by a parent anyway, but there have been better deals, with the HD 8 being an all out much superior tablet and has been cheaper than this, and this tablet with 32 GB has been cheaper, but if the kids stuff is important to you, then this may be a deal.

I like the new case with this tablet, wish they had one with the kickstand on the 8" version. The space really isn't such an issue as you can get a cheap memory card and have it default to installing all apps on the memory card. Yes you can download prime or netflix or other videos to the tablet for offline viewing even in the kids profiles.
For me personally I went with this over the regular tablet because the 1 year of free time is kinda nice for access to the apps, books, and other recommendations over just the normal prime membership but also because it has a 2 year no questions asked warranty. When getting it for my kids that I've already had to replace a couple of other tablets and screens on the Wii U due to I'd rather just not have to think about what will happen if.

Get an Amazon Gift Card + 25% off one new Fire Tablet when you trade in any eligible device associated with your Amazon account. So going through Amazon might be better. I'm looking for an old Nabi to try getting the 25% off now

I usually end up buying a new kids fire edition tablet when they go on sale each year. The Freetime unlimited subscription will work for all of your Amazon Tablets. With three kids, that is worth it for me just so they can easily have access to the games/apps. I did opt for the HD 8 versions though.
