The screen goes completely black with super faint numbers for time when the ambient lighting reaches a certain threshold (adjustable).

It's a good deal and overall a reputable seller, but I've bought these from Altatac probably four or five times, and they're usually shipped in just a thin plastic envelope offering no protection. Almost all of them have dented boxes from shipping and one even had the plastic wrap torn badly. If you care about the box being in new condition, you won't get that from them. If you don't care as much, this is as good a deal as you can usually get.

How is the sound quality of this as compared to the Home (decent enough) or Home Mini (not great)?

I have Google hub without the screen and use it as a router.
What else can this be used for ? Excuse my ignorance.

Two cents

Got these on a prior deal.

They are more robust than this, but as a connected digital frame the hub shines.

We just had a baby and bought a few for our parents and grandparents. Set them all up with google photos and have shared folders. Now the family gets updated pictures to the frame almost daily. It's been great. My grandfather has never looked so happy to receive a gift.

All other functions are just a bonus for them.

As a new parent telling home hub to play songs is priceless. Not having to reach for the phone keeps the babe relaxed and hopefully asleep.
Did the exact same thing. Totally worth $55 bucks so I'm not getting email requests for new pictures
