I worry they're gonna use this to collect and then sell data on your car usage.
It just makes no sense for a company that discovers its product is horribly buggy to offer to give them away. People who get one will conclude the company makes crap, and won't buy a later improved version. It only makes sense if they figure a lot of people will just leave it connected in their car and leave the app installed on their phone.

Call me paranoid, but I see no other reason for the company to give away a product they've discovered they can't sell because it's too buggy.
