I read on the policy that the returns are not free. Was yours defective? And do a few dead pixels or bleed count as a defect?

I'm wondering if they only charge return shipping if it's because you changed your mind.
That sounds right. I have returned a couple defective things to buydig and gotten a free label. Never returned anything because I didn't want it but I would assume I would have to pay return shipping in that case.

I see, what I'm really asking is if you got a free shipping label from them to send it back. I know you can return it even if you just change your mind, in which case you pay out of pocket to send back this behemoth of a monitor (which would kill the deal for me if I need to fork out like 60 bucks to ship it back).

Yes, maybe I'll get some ugly backlight bleed or dead pixels that I don't want, but I am banking on the possibility that it was also returns from people who changed their mind after buying a big ticket item like this. Call me foolish, but it's the SDer in me that wants to think that's possible.
Yeah they gave me a prepaid label when I said it was defective and asked to return it. I haven't received the refund yet but it should be delivered today.

how do these guys get so many higher end "open box" monitors.. and is that just a nice way of saying .. returned scratched up monitors with loads of dead pixels..
FWIW one of those is one I just shipped back Monday. It was perfect; opened with zero pixels dead, excellent color and no issues with backlight. Was not packaged in an extra box but the Styrofoam instead was sufficient. I sent back because it was simply too big for my desk. Cannot believe it is 150 off the 799 price. You'll get a great monitor, shipment was super fast.

im sure there are SOME that get through that are good.. but for 650 i want on the screen (can deal with some minor scratches on the back of the monitor)...i know you get what you pay for and all.. its just too much money to spend to be unhappy when you stare at that dead pixel every day..

Haha one can hope. Fingers crossed.

I'm seriously debating getting this. Has anyone tried the Alienware AW3418DW and this side by side? I have seen the Alienware new for about $580 on certain deals so I was considering saving some money (vs. $800 the LG goes new), but with the 10% coupon this gets down to $630 (+ tax) so it's close enough in price that I may jump on it...

The new Alienware 34 inch coming out looks pretty slick, but also at a very high price tag ($1499 if i remember correctly).
Where did you see that AW3418DW deal?

It's been a while. It was on Dell.com and on the outlet. Dell site had a gc to get to get it to 580 and outlet was after coupon.

Just looked up gaming monitor reviews and this doesn't even get a mention? Why not is it that bad comparatively?

I have seen plenty of reviews on this, its a pretty popular monitor as far as ultrawides go. Ultrawides in general arent as popular since they are more expensive and more demanding to run, maybe thats why it wasn't on whatever sites youre talking about

PCgamer, techradar, tomsguide are generic? What would be a better way to research them?
