iPhone XR 64gb (Sprint upgrade) $499 at Best Buy

I believe these phones retail for $599 through Apple, and everywhere else I looked. Best Buy has them listed for $499 if you pay full price up front. Seems like a decent deal if you aren't interested in getting the new upcoming model or leasing the phone.

Note: I am upgrading so if I were to do the monthly installments, it would be $25 per month for 24 months = $600. New accounts can get it for $15 per month for 24 months = $360 so that would be the better way to go for new activation.

Would this work with the free plan, or do you have to activate it at the store?

This is the SIM-free version with no preinstalled SIM inside the iPhone. Best Buy will give you the Sprint SIM separately. The iPhone will lock to the first inserted SIM, so if you want to use it on a different carrier, don't insert the Sprint SIM. Just buy it as Sprint with one time payment of $499 from Best Buy and then cancel your Sprint account. Zero charge from Sprint if you cancel within 30 days with their 30-Day 100% Total Satisfaction Guarantee. You don't have to return the iPhone after cancelling the Sprint account because you buy it from Best Buy and pay in full. You have to return it only if you buy it with Sprint Flex lease, installment plan, or buy it from Sprint.

Is anyone able to do the upgrade as a one time payment with Sprint's Kick Starter plan? I've tried and Best Buy will not let me buy the phone and says to contact Sprint. I'm trying to buy it upright and place it on one of my kick starter lines.

will this work with a verizon SIM? Also, after using it on verizon for a bit, would a foreign GSM sim card work on it during international travel?

TIA

It will work and lock to any US carrier's first inserted SIM. So if the first inserted US carrier's SIM is Verizon, it will lock to Verizon for 60 days for US carriers. It's international unlocked after you activated it on Verizon SIM.

You have to upgrade at the Best Buy store. Upgrading Kick Starter plan does not work on Best Buy website.

Sprint will let you cancel before you activate the phone?

Thank you quantecipher.

Noticed they updated their pay now to "with activation today"

Cant remember if this was how the original deal was worded. Can we still do what you are suggesting in store?

Are you sure it is international unlock from day 1 if we activate with Verizon ?

There's a 30 dollar upgrade fee. Anybody know if that can be waived?

If I don't insert any US sim, would it be unlocked to be used outside US?

I believe with apple US flex activation policy, first Sim card has to be an US Sim card
