Found Season One of Alton Brown's Good Eats on sale on Google Play [google.com], Amazon Prime Video [amazon.com], and iTunes [apple.com] NLA.

I apologize if this was already mentioned. I only saw season 16 on search.

I'll correct formatting if needed. On mobile.

I think Alton Brown's fame stems more from being able to explain technical aspects/science of food and cooking (not to mention debunking myths, providing tips and tricks regarding equipment, etc.) to a general audience. His background was not always in food. He has not always been perfect, but he provides a lot of value to many people. You are allowed to dislike him, but I just want to remind you that he is famous and loved for a darn good reason.

This show is what launched Alton Brown if I remember right. It's so good. So so good.

Is this true HD or just upscale? As I understand it, the first 8 seasons were only every shown in SD. Seasons 9-14 are HD.

Yes, this show is to blame for him. I normally have better things to do than voice distaste for people I don't care for, but I simply can't watch that pretentious clown. I'd rather subject myself to a Steve Raichlen self-ego-stroking marathon or listen to that massively overrated jerk Gordon Ramsay berate some poor aspiring chef who did nothing terrible. Brown is not only annoying but frequently just wrong. He's the fool who once insisted that the only way to make a good burger was to griddle a loose, nearly spherical little lump. That's unforgivable. Thanks anyway OP, but I'm out. The only worse foodie is Chris Kimble.

It's not true HD. HD wasn't really prevalent, or perhaps even unavailable, when this show started in 2005....the horror, I know 😁

That's not true, it depends entirely on the camera used to film - Google WW2 in HD. If they could shoot it in 1940, they could certainly shoot it in 2005.

I think some of us need a better grasp of how HD works before we spout out 'knowledge'.

Ah, good eats. My wife and I (yep, I'm not even a cook) enjoyed watching Alton in those early seasons. No doubt he knew how to cook scientifically, but dear god, you'd go broke buying all of those many ingredients he used Smilie
