Amazon and Google Play have the eeBook edition of The Pillars of Earth by Ken Follett -for $1.99

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003TO5GXU

The Pillars of the Earth tells the story of Philip, prior of Kingsbridge, a devout and resourceful monk driven to build the greatest Gothic cathedral the world has known . . . of Tom, the mason who becomes his architect—a man divided in his soul . . . of the beautiful, elusive Lady Aliena, haunted by a secret shame . . . and of a struggle between good and evil that will turn church against state and brother against brother.

A spellbinding epic tale of ambition, anarchy, and absolute power set against the sprawling medieval canvas of twelfth-century England, this is Ken Follett's historical masterpiece.

I found the book interesting, but dull.
The plot is fairly predictable and the character development is shallow.

The author seems oddly obsessed with breasts? There are numerous sex scenes which read like a poorly-written romance novel with a weird focus on breasts.

The second book (World Without End) came out in 2007, the third (Column of Fire) came out in 2017. Enjoy!

I loved the first two books. How is the latest one? Same universe and everything still?

I agree. Interesting how the construction of Cathedrals were a town's existence for generations. But prose and character wise meh. For an example of prose read Aztec by Jennings.

No, different characters completely. I believe there's a few references to the earlier books, like "this church was built by a man named Tom Builder" or something like that. It's been a while since I've read it though.

I didn't like the third book nearly as much as the first two, but I still think it's a good book and I'd recommend it just because it finishes the trilogy.
