Hope this is a slick deal...I'm switching from Verizon to Xfinity and was shopping for Roku devices so I could skip the monthly set-top-box rental fee. Found the Roku Premiere+ at Walmart for $39.00. The Roku website is sold out of this model and Amazon has it for $85.46 (https://www.amazon.com/Roku-Premi...B01LXUZPQU). I received free shipping and handling (but I'm not positive whether that's because I bought 3 of them?) or you can pick up in store.

The model for sale at Walmart is the 3921 model which has 1x1:1 bgn wireless so it only supports up to 150Mbps when connected connected with 802.11n on 2.4GHz. This is basically a 2017 Roku Express with a voice remote and increased RAM/flash memory.

I have fire sticks and Rokus (some of the Rokus so old it isn't funny use the oldest to watch a 32"tv on my dock). And while I agree with the previous poster that Firestick has the advantage, at this point in time, I have to ask myself am I gonna blow $40 on some streaming device or just wait for Black Friday and get a 40 something inch 4k TV with every app known to man already on it and pay $200. And my answer to myself is for $150 bucks more, I'm getting the TV on BF. So I gotta go delete some old deal alerts like this one.........

Been on the firestick bandwagon... any advantages to roku over the firestick? Just generally curious.
Roku supports Vudu naively. I have a lot of purchased Vudu content and the Vudu free movies (with ads) are pretty good.

I have had nothing but pain and headaches trying to get Vudu working on Firestick or FireTV box. Twice I have side-loaded the Vudu app, but it only works for a few weeks before either forgetting my login (and requiring me to re-enter my password), the UI stops working correctly, or the movies stop playing correctly.

Anyone had any luck using Vudu with FireTV/FireStick?

Ugg. This looks like a re-modeled roku Express. 👎🏼👎🏼

Does anyone use the voice feature of the remote? The only thing I would use it for (filling in search box on YouTube app) doesn't work. That feature is the only thing I prefer on my Apple TV.

Firestick is has one advantage... you can load Kodi on it. Disadvantage is, you can't load youtube TV on it.. Now that is ridiculous.
There is now a YouTube app per a relatively recent amazon google agreement.

I use the sideloaded smart YouTube tv app anyway.

I think those are good if they are FireTV or Roku or AndroidTV variety of smart TVs and maybe a few others. However, the when the smart features are made by Samsung or lg or whatever they go obsolete pretty fast and stop receiving meaningful updates.

No, only the Ultra has an ethernet port.
Roku comparison chart (see attached file) to clarify some contradicting info about "Roku premiere +", do supports the following:
  • 802.11ac dual-band MIMO
  • Ethernet port
  • Point anywhere remote
  • Remote with headphone jack for private listening
  • Screen Mirroring for Android™ & Windows® devices

I love the fire stick as well. Got my first one on Prime Day and won't go back to Roku.

I need a roku with spot to plug in an Ethernet cable. This one doesn't allow that does it? I need to get the most expensive Roku?
Been mentioned a few times below but the newer Premiere+ absolutely have ethernet. I purchased it and love it. Here's link to Amazon, note you're going to be paying a bit more unless you want to wait for BF

Edit: typo

The specifications do not Specifically list YTTV as an available streaming service. Does anyone know if this model can handle YTTV?

Yes. My roku ultra has the voice feature too, but it doesn't work for searching on YouTube. My Apple TV does. That was my question.

IDT it's been mentioned but Disney+ currently isn't supposed to come to Fire TV. It's possible it could be sideloaded but idky.

That said...I agree to wait for BF.
