Hey fellow SDers, Amazon has this hand knife sharpening system from Work Sharp for $31.99. The kit has great reviews, and the price is like the lowest of the lowest CCC everlaugh out loud.

If you are in the market for a knife sharpening system, now might be a good time to bite, cheersSmilie.

QA Update: Usually ships within 1 to 2 weeks at Amazon

Try DMT Diafold sharpeners with their magna-guide. I use them for all my knives. No damage to the blade finish, and I can get a mirror finish on the edge and sharp as a razor blade (I can literally shave with sharpened knives). I use them on my $200+ collector knives without any concern. I don't always use the magna-guide because I'm fairly experienced at sharpening these days BUT, on expensive knives I do to ensure a proper and consistent edge angle and they work nicely.

They're also very portable, and DMT offers miniature keychain versions that are super sweet. If you buy a set, get Extra Coarse/Coarse and Fine/Extra Fine and magna-guide. If you only get one to try, get Coarse/Fine.

* The scratched knives MAY not be the sharpener's fault but someone improperly using the sharpener. You can scratch the $&%! out of any knife with just about any sharpener if you don't know what you're doing with it.

It's been 29.99 before but that was 51 minutes in 2017.

It is free shipping on this item, period, so why is "FS w/ Prime" in the OP?

If you're going to bite on this good deal, you should go all in and get the upgrade kit:

Considering it's been as low as $19.99 in the past, I'd say it's something to consider when the price drops closer to that low on CCC but not today.

Looked at it, but the review showing it scratching up and marring the surface of the kitchen knives scared me away. Not going to risk my Zwilling Pro's with this. Thanks for sharing though.

Good deal. I have one but vastly prefer the Sharpmaker ease of use FWIW

I just used a Lansky sharpener this weekend, and it is far superior to this old style. The problem with this or a simple whetstone is in maintaining the angle throughout the sharpening. Sure, it has this great angle set at the very start. You can see exactly 20 degrees. The first thing you do is push the knife away from the angle block, and freehand the blade 6 inches while trying to manually maintain an angle. Of course you will fail unless you practice this all the time.

The Lansky type sharpener isn't perfect, but it maintains a specific angle throughout the hone. It's also built so you're never pulling a blade toward yourself, which is always nice.

I look at it this way - You're already saving almost $20 off the basic kit, so why wait to save $8 on the upgrade which is, in my book, essential anyway?

I look at it as saving much more than just $8 when you can combine it with other offers, like $5 off Amazon Assistant, $30 off Amex, $10 off $30 Discover or $15 of $60 Chase offers.

Just like I got this deal today for only $21.99 +tax using Discover $10 off $30

But hey, to each their own.
