Comcast said it will give a free Xfinity Flex streaming box to internet-only subscribers, after previously charging them $5 a month for the device. The connected box aggregates content from popular platforms like Netflix, Google's YouTube and Amazon Prime, allowing it to directly compete with Roku's set-top boxes, which also aggregate TV shows and movies from a variety of content makers.

This deal works only if you don't own your own Cable Modem (like I do). If you use your own Cable Modem that you own, you'll have to contact Comcast to get a Comcast Xfinity Gateway modem at an additional rental cost per month. (I already get Netflix free with my Tmobile Plan, so I'm not gonna pay an extra fee per month just to get a xfinity gateway modem to get the xfinity streaming box)

Amen to that.

So, Comcast calls and offers me this exception deal - Gig Speed + App + some other non sense = all for the low price of $80 per month. The agent lies to my f'ing face that it doesnt have a contract and its locked for life. She sends the paper work - digitally - and right on the first page - term is for one year after which the regular rate goes to $150 per month.

She f'ing lies to my face while she is online and I am reading the paper work.

Dont trust a god damn this company says or does. Not a single god damn thing.

I kept using the leased XFi modem since i have VoIP with Comcast, but I was getting increasingly annoyed that the monthly lease kept increasing over the years ($5->$6->$7...) Why would this be, other than 'because they could'? When it got to $11 per month I had had enough and actually found a reasonably priced VoIP modem that would work - $32 on eBay. Purchased that and installed, and returned the leased modem.

I really hope 5G becomes ubiquitous and one day I will not need EVER AGAIN to have anything Comcast related. F**k Comcast! Fees and fees and more fees.
Do not subscribe for anything but Internet from them, and even that ONLY if you really have no other choice.

As most have mentioned, this is only available for those leasing the Xfi gateway.

OP should modify the title & description to reflect this, or face the downward thumbs.

Surprised you have not migrated to Obi and google voice... It has worked great for years. No fees except the e911 call centric fee of $12 per year...
