After a close call with a shattering cutting wheel in an angle grinder, I got one of these. You shouldn't wait until after an accident to protect yourself.

Just a quick PSA note: these are great.

If you're doing something where you need one of these, make sure you're also not doing something where you should be wearing breathing protection too.

If you are doing something where you need breathing protection too, consider getting a full face respirator mask instead. (and, please, make sure you get the right filters for what you're doing if it involves VOCs: 3m et al provide lookup sheets to check!)

I <3 my 3m 6800. Every so often they go on sale for about $70 (otherwise they usually over around $100, and I'd still consider that money well spent personally), and there are also other brands that sell cheaper ones. I used to use a partial respirator and safety goggles, but honestly the full face respirator basically never fogs up, so it's become my main goto for a lot of things.

This one is better.
$18.72 after coupon.
More features, better comfort. If I only have one, I want it to be one I want to wear.

I see that the one you mention as a ratchet. Is there anything other features you can tell me that would make it better?

The hinge on the side where the visor flips up is also has adjustable tensioner. Often models vary in the headband material they have as well. Not sure on that for these models being discussed though.
