Not to get too dark, but we used these for my grandfather so he didnt wonder down the road while he was suffering from dementia. My Grandma could hardly get any sleep without worrying he would roam off while she was not alert. He also couldnt see. These type if locks were different enough once he found them he did not figure out you had to pull it toward the hinges of the door before pulling away. He would lose focus, and go onto something else. Maybe that info can help someone.

also, if you have a metal door frame as most apt hallway doors will,
you'll need a good quality carbide bit to drill those screw holes properly.

Great price. We use these for our home and our rental properties. Depending on how long the screws they send you - you may want to buy longer ones to make it even more secure. One set we bought happened to have short screws, which were useless. But the lock itself is awesome.

Excellent price. We have some already but for this price, I picked up 2 more for when we move next year to install at the next home and 2 for a friend who just moved and had just mentioned needing to get new ones again. Just remember that you may have to chisel out a little from the door frame to get it to sit flush so the door can close properly.

I just bought the Upgraded one last week for $13.99 with notches on the top and bottom for easier grip.
If I didn't already install it, I might consider getting this since it's 1/2 the price.
Also I recommend this lock. Installed on metal door frame.

*edit
sorry, mine wasn't Prime Line

Exactly. I've only installed them in a single resident home, so wooden door frames, but that makes sense. Plus, having a good set of bits to drill into metal is always a good idea.

Yup. I used these to install on my metal door frame.

While youre at it be sure to check that the screws on the hinge side have at least one in each plate that goes way into the door and frame. Would hate to go to the trouble putting this in only to have an intrusion because the hinge side gave out to the slightest force.
