I saw a YouTube video demonstrating that you will get PCI 4.0 performance when using a Ryzen 3700X with an X470 board. No need for X570 just yet especially where there is so little hardware being made to the standard yet. I currently have this motherboard with a Zen+ Ryzen 2700X and am extremely pleased. As much as I want to upgrade, I know I have plenty of horse power with this combo. Great board with tons of headroom for future upgrades.
That is only on a specific bios. The feature has been removed on newer ones.

If the new gen chips work on the bios before this particular one, could always backgrade to have pci 4.0

I have this board with a 2700x. Works great.

That's what I did. Sold the 2600 on ebay and thinking maybe I should have kept it. Moving off of Intel i5. Sounds like the 3600 is a good target for me.

It needs to be flashed with a newer BIOS to work with Ryzen 3000. Can't predict whether this board will come with a newer BIOS preloaded; if not you'll need an older AMD CPU (or request the boot kit) just to get the BIOS updated. I purchased an MSI B450 board from Newegg this week and it came with a Ryzen 3000 ready sticker on it, but the board I selected had the Flashback feature which allowed me to update with newest BIOS anyway for the Ryzen 3700x I'm pairing it with. This ASUS board doesn't have Flashback so it's a dice toss whether it will work out of the box for you.

Actually it's awesome that AMD makes their new processors backwards compatible with older motherboards.

True buts lame that I have to wait for a boot kit and send it back. Imagine if you bought a brand new car but had to wait for a different engine, install it, take it out, put in the other engine and send back the old one just to drive it.
