ELAC Debut Series IC-D61 6.5" Two-Way In-Ceiling Speaker (Single) $99 (Normaly $199 each)

B&H has the Elac IC-D61 in ceiling speakers half off at $99 each. Been seeing some nice sales lately on Elac speakers, and many folks prefer brand/timbre matching their entire layout so this is a good deal if looking to add some height channels.

"Achieving high-fidelity performance form an in-ceiling speaker was an exciting challenge for Andrew Jones and the ELAC engineering team. Taking lessons learned from the original Debut Series, the 2-way IC-D61-W maintains an invisible profile with sound that is anything but. With custom transducers, components and compact recessed cabinets, it transcends the limitations of ordinary in-ceiling designs and delivers a musical experience worthy of Debut."

I dont have the in ceiling, but I have the elac B6.2's in my living room. Decent speaker for the $130 a pair I paid.

For in ceiling, I have the micca r8c in my basement theater. Bought the refurb version for 30 each. I've heard amazing things about the rsl c34e which go for 125 each. If I were to change out my four right now, I'd probably go w those for around the same price as these Elacs.

This is a fantastic deal and these basically never go on sale. The rest of the debut 2 series have been on the market for a while, I wonder if this is a hint that the in ceiling versions of that line is coming soon?

Didn't even know they made in ceiling. When I got my front 3 the elac debuts were one of the frontrunners

If you are a true slickdealer, you'd likely have your favorite cashback portals anyway. Slickdeals is just an information site

Audyssey compensation is horrible. I had to turn it off. The bass management is great though.

He's not referring to dynamic volume or dynamic equalizer (I don't believe). He's referring to Audyssey's MultEQ.

These drivers/tweeters are matched to the debut lineup, though if you were looking to timbre match the uni-fi these are probably the closest you'll find. If im not mistaken aside from the other ceiling model of these with the angled driver, there's the ic-1005 ceiling speakers elac makes, or made. Not sure if discontinued or not.

In my experience matching your speakers matters and IMO more so with Atmos. At this level/price range the difference might not be as crucial but it's still a good idea.
I would add that your quality preference is a big part of it also.

I tend to think BR1060 is right on this. One thing I would point out is Audyssesy/RC is just a starting point and if that point doesn't work for you then you have to tweak it to your preference. For many people that starting point works well for them and don't need to tweak it IMO.
