These have been on clearance at Walmart B&M for some time now, now for as low as $20 YMMV. I might pick one up for that price later today. Here's the brickseek: https://brickseek.com/walmart-inv...u=20679142

Some reviews indicate this thing doesn't heat up that well, but it might be fine for my purposes. Removable plates is a nice feature for easier cleanup.

It kind of shocked me to see all the negative comments. I have had one for about a year and I cook about everything on it. I wonder if exclusively using the flat top has something to do with it as I noted another person comment on cooking burgers and another steaks fine. I have cooked both a thousand times as well as grilled veggies, grilled cheeses, chicken breast filets, Philly cheese steaks etc and have been very pleased with the results. As far as the grease trap It def doesn't channel itself in there very well but you also wouldn't want a flat top that wasn't flat or level so that's pretty reasonable and easily remedied with the occassional nudge with a spatula. A quality worth noting is you can cook different stuff on both sides you may prefer not touch. It sounds like results may vary but I feel pretty passionate about this product so I felt my experience was worth sharing.

Amazon [amazon.com] currently has it for the same price, has been there several times in the last few months. I have this and really like it. There are also additional plates available from Cuisinart or other manufacturers to make Belgian waffles.

very ymmv. The places that I checked that had it for $19.99 were all OOS. Was there a post here regarding the clearance? If so, must have missed.

And regarding it heating up, I have no complaints - it heats up about as fast as a frying pan on my flat-top stove; as far as I can tell, the heat is evenly distributed, and since you've got top and bottom griddles, you're cooking twice as fast.

I don't recall any specific posts on here, I just happened to see it in Brickseek. Your point about it being very YMMV is well taken, as with anything on Brickseek and Walmart's inventory checker.

I have been looking to get a griddle and if this can replace my waffle maker (and MUCH easier to clean) and serve a few other purposes well, I'm in. Especially if I can nab it for $20 in store.

I used to grill ribeyes and new york steaks when I lived in a basement, unfortunately it's not smokeless so eventually I put in the back yard. Not as delicious as propane grill but hell, way easier to clean

You can do it, not worth it though. They won't turn out as good as cooking them on a 10$ cast iron skillet.
