Yep be very careful. Indian domestic airlines can have crazy restrictions. Some only allow 15kg in your checked luggage. They will also weigh your hand luggage. Overage charges can be really steep so just read the rules carefully.
For sure. Learned this the hard way once when trying to travel with bags of heavy food, like pickles, and being overloaded 45 mins before departure. Dumped as much as we could and ran.

Another reminder that Emirates and Qatar are the best airlines in the world with amaizng food menus for veg and non veg!
American airlines are garbage in comparison to them. Penny pinchers Delta, united,AAA and others.Domestic routes should be given to Emirates/Qatar too.

If you can get past the crappy website, their service is pretty good. Their flight staff is very friendly and they had comfortable (for the price) and clean seats in economy. Instead of opting for an internal flight, make a stop in Qatar instead. I had a flight from LAX —> Qatar —> Ahmedabad. The inflight food (both vegetarian and meat options) were tasty.

If your layover is more than a few hours in Qatar and you have access to a priority pass, their lounges are excellent — complete with clean showers and good food which can be extremely refreshing on your trip back.

Thank you so much!! Was about to book a flight for over $1000 to Chennai but now got a flight to New Delhi and will book an internal flight to Chennai I guess. Anyone have any experience with that?
You will have to pick up your luggage at Delhi airport for custom in any case. When you book your domestic flight make sure you can carry all the weight you are transferring to domestic flight, make sure to pay upfront when you book your domestic flight ticket.

What? You don't like United? They give you free workout and massage on your way out of the plane

Qatar makes refunds a pain.
If for some unforeseen reason you cannot travel the onward and/or return trips.....good luck getting your money back

Just did my international trip.with qatar. Very comfortable in economy . Staff very nice and professional, good leg space. Entertainment and food are great. Just like anything sitting for a long time is rough but doable. I flew from NYC to Bali and male and back. Best airline

Domestic flight in India allows only 15 kgs for check in luggage. If you take 2 check in bags with each 23 kgs, you have to pay for 29 kgs extra baggage

While that would be nice, do you really expect the same level of service on a flight from Seattle to Denver, which is maybe two hours long? Also, Qatar, Etihad, and Emirates are government funded, so profit isn't the biggest objective for them. You can see that they make less in profit compared to the American carriers despite holding stellar service and a ton of international routes.
