Thanks for sharing - apart from the dim screen everything else about this laptop is good.

I have a similar laptop. $550 from Staples but with a smaller SSD. I like it thus far but it is a bit heavier than I expected. The screen is on the dim side but that's how I usually keep my screens.

Just be aware, it comes default with some security setting in BIOS that makes booting the laptop painfully slow. I disabled it and enabled fast boot and it's fantastic now. The keyboard especially.

Would the dim screen issue cause trouble using this for inventory for a small business? Won't be used for gaming or movies much if any, just inventory and researching antiques.

I just took a quick glance. But the Lenovo posted here is twice the SSD size, $50 less, and better reviews vs the HP you linked to.

I saw this at my local Costco. The specs are similar but after looking at this and the i7 version of Flex also on Costco, I felt Flex uses better materials and is more pleasant to use. YMMV.

I bought this laptop Feb 2019 from office depot for about same price. I really hate this laptop for following reasons.
- The fan noise is so loud and annoying. Tried to find a fix by reading numerous forums. No bios update or change fixed this problem.
- We use it for just simple browsing and youtube videos. It has become very slow nowadays. I'm thinking about resetting windows now.
- The video playback has become buggy after the latest graphics driver update. While maximizing to full screen or return from full screen mode it goes black or hangs in between.
- Got a problem in laptop going into sleep mode. Had to call the help desk to fix it as it is still in warranty.

As I'm so annoyed with all these issues I'm planning to sell in ebay for whatever I can get. I picked up a HP 14 Notebook from costco yesterday for $299 yesterday and I already started liking my HP. Though the hp config is way less than this laptop it is fast enough for my light use and I get 1080p and backlit keyboard. Also I'm planning to upgrade hp with additional ram and ssd when I get a nice deal.

Trust me the fan noise in this laptop alone will make you go crazy and also the laptop gets very hot as well. MY new hp 14 notebook has none to low fan noise which I barely notice.

I have not written many or any comments in SD but for this laptop I could not let my fellow slick dealers make an uninformed decision.

We have the 15 and I don't love the dim screen, but it's totally fine for indoor use with relatively normal lighting. It's only really a problem if you take it outside or work under bright lights. And other than the dim screen, this is a great laptop, I think.

I've seen the fan issue mentioned in reviews for the 15" i7 version of this laptop as well. It's weird that the one I currently own is really silent. I run simulations on it constantly and even under full load it's really silent.

I don't know why people have such opposing experiences with this laptop but that's why I almost always but my electronics from Costco. Issues even after two months? A quick trip to Costco and done.

I got the Ryzen 7 version of the laptop for about $470 directly from Lenovo on a front page deal posted a month ago. So far happy with it and the fan noise is not even noticeable compared to the HP Pavilion x360 that ended up returning to Costco

My laptop is an AMD Ryzen 5. It runs very hot as well, hot enough to make an omelet on the back.

I can second this, was one of the first things I noticed coming from a laptop with a Celeron. Ended up returning due this as well as it's poor battery life. Not sure if the intel is any better, but I can say that my thinkpad e495 with a Ryzen 7 has much better thermals and doesn't get any where near as hot.
