Just realized this... Yamaha hasn't released a 2019 line of Aventage receivers.

Anyone know why?

This or the V2085 at $799 (assuming it goes back on sale)?

Per AVS forums they were waiting for HDMI 2.1 spec finalization and going to basically sit this year out.

This one will probably hold its value a little better, but they're supposed to be identical in performance. Probably better to save the $150 if they put the 2085 on sale again.

How do people even get to know about codes from Adorama or Crutchfield?

I personally went with the 3080, and felt after the new 2.1 spec came out there would be a decent waiting period before it gets to a good sale price and the value should hold well. So whenever the new version goes on sale I could pick it up and sell the 3080. Also didn't wanna wait almost a year or two for a sale.

For users that do any sort of gaming, and can afford to wait, I would recommend sitting out this year's receivers and buy something next year when HDMI 2.1 receivers are there. Especially if you already have or plan to upgrade to a HDMI 2.1 TV set.

By all indications eARC on major TV's is buggy and you'll be better off having native HDMI 2.1 on your receiver than rely on eARC.
