The keyboard gets hotter than the devil's ballsack after 15 minutes of gaming. That's with the fans at full speed

Trust me, I wish it wasn't true but thermals on these slim "performance" laptops is a real bottleneck. Apparently at this point in time, you can't have high graphics performance from a slim laptop. The machine gets really hot, so much so that it hurts to use the keyboard. It has the same issue with fortnite at 1080p and high settings. At 720p and low settings it can hold steady at 144 FPS and runs pretty cool, but at 1080p with medium settings or higher, the thing feels like an oven and constantly drops to 30 FPS or lower when there's a lot of action on-screen. The slim form factor is nice but it's not ideal for gaming. The area51m with the rtx 2060 can push more frames at higher settings while running much cooler, but obviously the thing weighs twice as much as my m15. Hopefully someone buying this to play games has the proper expectations of the level of performance they'll get out of it. I'd say if you plan on gaming on a laptop, you should look at how well it can dissipate heat before anything else.

I was just looking at these yesterday, but the prices wasn't right. Can someone give me an opinion on a Levono Legion Y740 versus this?

First of all, you decide if you need a 17.3" Laptop vs a 15.6" Laptop. However, price wise and build quality wise, Alienware m15 is better choice. Y740 is a very good laptop but costs almost $200 more for almost similar configuration. It may have 1TB PCIe SSD but that is very easy to upgrade within $100.

Okay. I have a job discount which would bring the price to $1229 before taxes. I've heard that Alienware's quality is great, but the Y740 seems too good to pass up.

Any review links or discussion on this? As per various reviews posted in various websites and YouTube Channels, this has a pretty solid thermals.

I have the newer version of this with the RTX 2070. It barely pushes 100fps in overwatch at 1080p medium settings (when plugged into power) and the FPS often drops below 30 during graphics-intensive battles, which is pretty much unplayable. This is far below the 320+ FPS the dell website says you will get. I guess if you wanna play games at 720p and low settings it's fine.
