I own a ps4, one of the early generations. I'm feeling the menu system to be very sluggish. Do these new models really improve that experience? I use the PlayStation 4 more as a Smart TV ( Netflix, prime video, hbo ) and bluray player for my projector. ( occasional games these days but not the driver )

How full is your hard drive? Early models only had 500gb.

just guessing here, It might be the hard drive itself failing. You could look into replacing with another hard drive or ssd if it's the issue rather than buying spending way more

Could just be full. Mine was sluggish when it was full. Reformatted the PS4 and everything is working smooth again. Although replacing the HDD might be a better option at this point since they dont have a whole lot of storage space to begin with. Reformat is free though.

I have both a launch PS4 and a PS4 Pro. The Pro is faster at menus, but I don't recall it being particularly dramatic. I do have a 2TB firecuda SSHD in the launch PS4 which may be making a little bit of a difference. Honestly, if you're not using it for gaming and thinking of replacing it with the PS4 Pro, I'd advocate just getting a dedicated media streamer (lower power consumption, better app support, cheaper, etc.).

Third party seller.
Third party with no warranty included. I think I'll pass/ I suspect by the time November hits, the price will drop to $299 for the Pro making refurbs closer to $240.

I had the same issue and when I replaced my drive with a solid start drive, issue resolved. I think the drives that come with the console are abused in the shipping and stocking process and the heat the system creates doesn't help. Replace the drive ab enjoy your system.

I have the launch PS4, but the gamestop guys tell me that I should experience a dramatic increase in boot and load times with the Pro processor and that with a 4k TV that the imagery is stunning. At this point, it makes more sense to just wait for the 5 next fall, better, faster and backwards compatible. If you buy the pro now, it will be obsolete in 12 months.

This deal is too good to be true. There has to be something wrong with this product. Feels like I'll get a brick in a box if I order.
