These are awesome shoes. I have both the 3.0 and 3.5 still sitting in my closet, with about 200 miles on them each. I would pull the trigger, but my existing pairs still have plenty of life left in them.

For reference, I got the 3.0 in size 11 and the 3.5 in size 11.5. I've tried on the 4.0 in store and would go for my regular size of 11.

Also, these always seem to go on sale early to mid Sept for around $70-80.

They are supposed to be true to size but I don't own one yet.

Edit: another site said they are form fitting and to order 1/2 size up.

I plan on wearing thicker hiking hiking socks so I'll order up.

Reading quick reviews, sounds like durability is an issue. I'm not a trail runner, but love hiking and use trail runners in place of boots. Anyone want to counter that?

Altra lately has some durability. issues not limited to Lone Peak, especially the lining near the ankle area. REI got tons of returns and my pair of Escalante worn out within 20 miles! It's such a shame as they are incredibly comfortable shoes.

Altras look a little funny, but are a blessing if you have metatarsalgia. Thanks for posting. Repped.

I'm only seeing size 13 as the largest. I'd love to jump on it in a 14.

Great deal thanks. I hope they are still the same sizing as the 3.5..

I still have the Lone Peak 3.5 that I use. Has over 400+ miles... maybe even more since I didn't really track how much I hike in them.

Waterproof?

If they're like the 3.5s, then no they are not. But when you're hiking/running, they tend to dry quickly. This is assuming they're getting wet from quick stream splashes etc. Never used them in downpours before.
