Because megapixels are one of the least important measures of a camera, unless you are trying to do big prints (in which case it matters, but is still not a measure of quality). Things like a larger sensor for gathering light, interchangeable (better) lenses, superior stabilization, ability to use accessories like external mics and flashes, etc.

Not to say an iPhone can't be or isn't suitable for many people. But megapixels are a mostly irrelevant measure.

I paid $998 a couple of years ago and sold the 45-200 lens on ebay for $350. It's a great camera for video. Photo quality is acceptable, more dynamic range than Canon but less resolution than most competitors.

From Slickdeals search it seems like an all time low deal, at least based on first page of result.

I bought a G7 earlier this year, but am looking to buy that 45-200 lens.

If i bought this kit, should i just take the lens and sell the GX85, or just sell the G7 package which i bought for $400.

Advice appreciated. GX has stabilization in the body correct. That worth the upgrade?

At 16 megapixel why not buy an iPhone?

Main benefits with the G85 (not GX85, just to confirm you aren't looking at that model) is weather sealing and stabilization as you mentioned. The stabilization is definitely great in these Lumix cameras. Looks like that 45-200 sells for about $200 on eBay.

If you do a lot of handheld shooting, and could get $400 for your kit (so essentially you're spending $100 to upgrade the body) it's worth it to me. But if you are mostly on a tripod that IBIS probably isn't worth the time and money for you to do a switcheroo.

Thanks for your thoughts . . . . . yes. not the GX, was typing quickly.

I have actually been looking on Ebay for the newer lens with the sealing and the stabilization, the price for new is a bit out of my range, and does not seem worth it at that price.

Yeah, if you go new there is certainly more of a premium.

Personally I think 200mm on a 4/3 sensor (which becomes 400mm at the 2x crop) is unnecessary. Have you considered the 45-150? It's a little shorter, but still gets you to 300mm equivalent and is less than $150 new. And it has stabilization built in - not as good as in-body, but it's something.

I have this body, but slightly different lenses. Most of the shots I have up at https://500px.com/waltsnider were taken with it if anyone is curious to see its capabilities. I upgraded to a GH4 now which I really love and my gf uses the G85 now.
