This deal has been ongoing for a while now I think? Some of the tools/kits go in and out of stock though.

I tried doing this at the store and they said they did not have this promotion. The reason I tried at the store is because they have the battery starter kit on clearance for $126.

Yeah, unfortunately the Ridgid promo page for this deal says it is online only. :-(

Can someone explain how people this kit and the tool, then return say the batteries only for a significantly cheaper tool only deal?
When you get your receipt, the two items are priced separately, allowing you to return the batteries (and all) and keep the tool at the lower price.

Your receipt will show separate line items for the battery kit and the bare tool - with the pro-rated return values of each. On-line orders are listed as one sku so partial returns are not possible.

If you are looking at a bare tool with a current price of $129, the return value of the battery kit would be $179*$179/($179+$129)=$104, so the bare tool would end up costing you $75.

I did not see that... I guess it was too good to be able to do this in Store. They had like 10 of the starter kits for $126. Slowly switching to Ridgid tools and so far I got 3 tools and only one 2.0Ah battery. But I don't want to shell out $179.99 + taxes now, even though is not a bad deal.

I was looking at the kit with the jig saw, but it sold out. Someone said you can add each item separately, so maybe that's a way you can get two separate line items. Not sure if that would work, but you could give it a try.

Yeah, I tried the same thing. Was hoping it would be possible to combine this deal with the in-store discounted price, but they outsmarted us. :-)

This deal is for a 3ah battery kit ($119) and includes a free tool as well (up to $149).

On previous posts of this deal, some folks were doing the trick where you ship one item to your home and pick up the other in store, and just cancel the in-store pickup. This allows you to avoid the return. Any idea how that works?

No. I used to return the shipped item to the store with no problem.
