For those that missed the deal earlier this month, these things are a lot better than just a dead bolt if someones trying to kick in your door.

$7.81 > $8.36

Not really Satin Nickel as shown in product picture. more bronze/rose gold than anything. refer to pic for the actual color you'll get.

I like the ones they put in some Hilton hotel rooms where you can crack it open a bit to see who's out there and can open the rest later. Sort of like the old chain ones, but more solid.

yeah that one, lol the aesthetics I guess aren't great on it but I feel like it's more useful for older people. I tell my elderly mother to never just open her front door, bought her a ring cam and she could even look through from side window, but she's so used to just opening up the door to talk to anyone that knocks or ring her door. I could just bite the bullet and do the chain, but i feel like this one you linked has better reinforcement.

Things to consider:
  • This only works if your door is parallel to the frame.
  • If your door is within a 2x6 frame, this won't work.
  • You may have to chisel out some frame for it to fit, not sure if that messes with the frames integrity (engineers?)
  • Maybe better to get a security bar, if you need to quickly get out? In a panic, one may have difficulty opening/lifting/fidgetting with this, whereas a security bar you can kick its side to dislodge..
Sorry man, you have no idea what you are talking about. You shouldn't state your interpretation as facts when they are far from factual.

Every door is parallel to the jamb.
It does work if you have 2x6 framing
It does not mess with the framing integrity.

Just make sure you use long enough screw to attach the studs behind the door jambs. 4" if you have them.

If u have deadbolt, I don't think this is necessary. A better option would be strike plate upgrade such as Prime-Line U 9539 - Armored Door Security Strike or the Battalion Strike Plate.

I'm talking about doors sunk in the frame (in the middle of the frame) like these:

I have browsed the Amazon's product page and customer photos and do not see where this works in such a situation..

Do you have examples, photos?

Wow, this was popular several weeks ago, several pages in the thread. Now, not a peep. What gives?
It was $6.23 then.
