For those that missed the deal earlier this month, these things are a lot better than just a dead bolt if someones trying to kick in your door.

$7.81 > $8.36

Not really Satin Nickel as shown in product picture. more bronze/rose gold than anything. refer to pic for the actual color you'll get.

These also work great to keep toddlers from escaping out the door.
Exactly the reason I had to install a few of these before. We got another runner!! LOL

Me too hah... But great product. I think it advertised as able to withstand 800 lbs of force on it.

Anyone can knock it down with enough conviction. Small door ram and you can get through almost any residential door. Home security keeps honest people honest and lazy criminals lazy.

You'd need a steel door and door frame for it to matter, wood frames only slow people down.

I'm talking about doors sunk in the frame (in the middle of the frame) like these:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EEAfTbpXsAA3oEJ.jpg

I have browsed the Amazon's product page and customer photos and do not see where this works in such a situation..

Do you have examples, photos?
Those are pictures of the outside of the doors. This product mounts on the inside.

Any properly installed door will have the inside face of the door flush with the inside edge of the frame and wall. If not, the door would not be able to open 180 degrees.

The exception is where some hack buys a door meant for a 3-1/2" wall and installs it in a 5-1/2" wall (or similar) and then fabricates some crappy extension jambs to bring the frame flush to the wall on the inside. The result is the hinges are not flush with the face of the inside wall and you can only swing the door 110 degrees or so before it binds.

It would not be the fault of this product if some hack installed your door, but it is worth noting it does not work with doors installed by morons.

I didn't read the rest of the comments to see if anyone said this already, but the only con I have with these is that the black plastic piece will sometimes stick or create a seal with the paint that it is on and can be a bit of a pain to get off to unlock

I would also like to mention that not only are these great for keeping toddlers from wandering out of the house and adding an extra layer of security to your door, but they also get a thumbs up for their entertainment factor. This is the cheapest way to turn your home into a makeshift "comedic escape room", and it is hilarious to watch people that have never encountered these before try to open your door. You will be amazed at how long most people will fidget and puzzle over these locks before they either figure out how to open them or lose their minds in the process.

Good point. But this particular item only locks from the inside, so it too is useless if you aren't home.
