For those that missed the deal earlier this month, these things are a lot better than just a dead bolt if someones trying to kick in your door.

$7.81 > $8.36

Not really Satin Nickel as shown in product picture. more bronze/rose gold than anything. refer to pic for the actual color you'll get.

What if you're not home?
You leave it unlocked, which may defeat the purpose but other people other entry points that can be secured such as the garage. Otherwise you ain't getting in without kicking the door down or breaking a window.

I know, I'm referring to mr. smith and Wesson. While I completely agree with home defense I cringe when people talk like that.

Nice gadget, but if there was a fire, firefighters couldn't get in.

This is not going to keep fire fighters or anyone else carrying a Halligan bar from getting in. This is no more of a barrier to fire fighters than a typical security bolt. If the fire fighters want your door to come down, its coming down regardless of what locks you install.

my patio door is all glass, I guess I'd better invest my money in infrared sensors, alarm system, and shotguns.

It won't work if you have molding around the door frame?

It should unless you have some seriously thick mouldings. I have standard door mouldings (typical type you could find at any big box stores) and it works fine.

Not all houses are made the same.
I could say the same about your 4" screws

I have brick houses that 4" would hit the brick.

Now don't say there's framing on the inside of the brick houses. These houses were built in the 1920's. Double brick construction, no insulation with a 1 1/4" door jab. No studs behind these jambs
Use Tapcons man. I love it when people think they know what they're talking about,.

I'm talking about doors sunk in the frame (in the middle of the frame) like these:

I have browsed the Amazon's product page and customer photos and do not see where this works in such a situation..

Do you have examples, photos?
Are you planning on locking your family in or people out? These go on the inside.
