But this proves to be of supreme interest to certain other parties—some of whom aren't remotely human..."

Sweet! This completes the Sprawl Trilogy for anyone on SD that's been watching carefully.

Neuromancer (Book 1) went on sale in March, and Mona Lisa Overdrive (Book 3) went on sale in July.

I really liked the neuromancer... is this a direct sequel with the same characters?

(Off topic, but someone remind me - why buy ebooks when the majority of popular novels are available from public libraries free through the Overdrive app on my tablet and phone. https://www.overdrive.com)

'Cause you might not read the whole book in the week or two allotted and have to "return" it, i.e., it's not available to keep reading. At these prices it's nice to have it loaded onto your device so it's with you at all times.

It's only two bucks....Applause

Can't speak for anyone else, but no libraries near me participate in this.

Or is there a way to use this without having a library card at a participating library I'm unaware of?

Perhaps...

In New York State you can request a Library card from any public library in the state. With their cards you can sign up to use their eBooks via Overdrive / Libby. I currently have access to the eBooks for NYPL, Queens Public Library and Nassau's Digital Doorway. I don't know whether this advice is valid for any other state.

It's a great freaking book. Also, no, it's not a direct sequel to the first book and with a mostly different cast.

I am in MA, not only can we get a local library card, we can also get a Boston library card if we are a state resident. Maybe check if you have a major city in your state?

Same world, different characters.

My library has both overdrive and Kindle loans. I use it all the time. But $2 to not have to check if they have a it, and if its in stock, then go through the process of getting the loan (kind of a pain), for one of my fav authors is worth it.

The library thing is very YMMV for any certain book x location... But it is a great resource for ebooks if you're flexible about what you read today
