Walmart has the M557, this is the beefed up M558 with 90 zones and 600+ nits. I am so impressed with the contrast and the brightness, especially at $499! This is a great deal, i bought it at $799 when it launched and am going to go get another one!

This scored really high for a step up on RTINGS and has been nothing but great

I think I have more fun spotting the shills/paid posts on Slickdeals than reading about the products these days. Only 9 hours spent on this site, account created a little over a year ago, and literally EVERY single activity was in a Vizio TV thread.

All these clowns are destroying the validity of what made this community so amazing. Tons of collective knowledge and diversity to inform us with real world experiences and subject matter expertise. Now you have to inspect every profile, look at posts/rep, and even drill down into their posts to determine if you can believe what they say. Sad times...

I don't think there is any. Every review company like cnn, Newegg, etc receive some sort of funding for promoting TVs. Rting motto is completely different where they do not take/receive money from big companies to promote products and you as user can support them by buying through afflicted links or just donating money. You should comment on rtings for their recommended settings and see if that makes things better. They typically respond within time frame. Otherwise, reach to their support, you may just have lemon!

Walmart has both the M557-G0 you referenced (https://www.walmart.com/ip/VIZIO-.../508341498) AND the M558-G1 as linked by OP for the same $498 price.

Agreed that the M558 is a better model for the same price!

I purchased one of my tvs last year based on recommendations from other SD members and their mentioning how well it scored with RTINGS. I freaking hate the thing-- currently it's sitting upright in my hallway against the wall. I can't tell you how many different settings i tried but none of them made the tv impressive.

What makes the people at rtings the go-to people to rely upon for generally accurate in scoring, their opinion, etc?? Is there another group like rtings to consider??

Thanks!
