Sorry for posting it in the deal thread but I might as well share this info for Delta Gold card Members.

I received an email last night that my Delta Gold Skymiles Amex card has some "big changes" coming soon.

New Benefits for Delta Gold Skymiles AMEX card members starting next year:
- 2x miles at Restaurants.
- 2x miles at U.S. Supermarkets.
- Spend $10,000 in one year and get a complementary $100 Delta Flight Credit.

Current Benefits going away or changing next year:
- Annual Fee goes from $95 to $99 per year.
- No more MQD waivers(Medallion Qualification Dollar waivers). *Note: If you earn a MQD waiver in 2019 it will still count towards Medallion Status in 2020.
- No more Delta Sky Club Access for this card.

Other benefits like First checked bag free, Main cabin 1 Priority Boarding, and 2x points on Delta are staying the same.

The changes start January 30th, 2020 with the no more MQD waivers starting January 1st, 2020. The link provided is to the Delta official website where it explains the changes.

I saw this too. I was surprised is said no more sky club access. I never ever remember this card have any skyclub access at all. Did it? Not that it matters anymore but I'd be bummed if I had this card for over a decade and was unaware. Maybe we had additional paid access? I wouldn't have paid though.

Access= ability to pay to enter the skyclub.
Same for Delta Platinum, the access simply means you can use that card to pay $39 to enter the Skyclub.

Yeh I don't think they had club passes like united card where you get two passes a year.

I just signed up for this card, got 70k miles targeted offer, still worth it even with changes listed

I plan on canceling the card at my anniversary anyway but might as well call now and ask for the AF returned due to the changes, can't hurt anything to ask.

It was discounted $29 access. Not awesome but for those of us with PP on other cards, it was a nice backup when a PP lounge wasn't available on longer flights.

Overall I'm canceling mine at next renewal.

Just upgrade to platinum, double the annual fee but you will get a companion Certificate and still have sky club access.

Yes, you could get into a Sky Club for $29. It came handy if your Delta flight got canceled because the front desk at the lounge gave you immediate good help. vs. all those at the gate who had to fight for attention. I even had my flight changed for free once just because the original one was getting more and more delayed and I was concerned about cancellation.

The value of Delta Platinum was questionable with $195 AF. With $250 AF it just does not make any sense for majority of people. If you fly Delta, Amex Platinum is the better choice. You can get back $400-$500 out of $550 AF and will have free access to SkyClub, Amex Lounge Collection, Priority Pass, better travel/auto insurance and better point program, which you can also transfer to Delta.

With all being said, 70K miles sign-up offer was not bad Wink

This card never had delta club access, it was 25 bucks if you had this card. The platinum card has the free access I believe.

I tried, they said the new policy is never to comp, return annual fee. If somehow someone made it happen post up.
