If this thing is anything like the now discontinued 6.5amp version (JS365), it's a great saw. Not the cheapest option out there, but you get what you pay for.

This is the fancier model with the double rollers for added blade stability. Great deal!

I bought the 7a single roller barrel design a few weeks ago for $137. It appears to be on sale as well currently.

I was wondering why this saw discounted was close in price to the 7 amp bosch js470e and found that this model includes an LED light and a dual roller system vs the single on the 470 in case anyone was wondering

I have this saw and at this price it is an exceptional deal! This is the flagship Bosch D handle jigsaw which has only 2 or 3 competitors in Festool and Mafell which may be better but are also sold for no less than $300+ more than this. Bosch invented the jigsaw and they've never let that get lost in their innovation and growth of jigsaws. Any real deal woodworker will equate Bosch to jigsaws. This saw is corded and at that I would just say that I use this model as my "shop" saw. Their are some great cordless options from Dewalt, Makita, Metabo, Festool... but for the most. Part they just don't have the features and power this saw gives you. It's really overkill for most people so while you can get this for this price... go nuts! Lol thanks OP!!!

I need a jigsaw, but have avoided the cheap underpowered ones that have been popping up on SD. I'm just a homeowner who only needs a jigsaw a few times a year, but of course, I like good tools. Is there a middle range jigsaw you recommend, or will they cost about the same as this one at this price?

For a homeowner without a dedicated shop, portability becomes more important. Get a cordless model.

I need to replace portions of deck boards that are rotted on the end. How well would this work for nice straight cuts across 1" thick wood decking boards? Need a way to cut the existing decking boards on the deck without messing up the adjacent boards.

This saw is a monster. Will cut like butter through 1" wood. Bought one after watching YouTube video https://youtu.be/3E3qhKF6Egc. 9" blade cuts through 6x6 wood block. Same saw but different grip. Barrel grip costs more in this amazon deal

Get the 6 amp for $77. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0...psc=1&th=1

You can opt for the 7 amp but there's a big jump in price and quality. The 7 amp is also eligible for the $20 discount which brings it down to $124.

Expensive for a tool that isn't battery powered
I thought the same at first, but after thinking for two more seconds I realized this probably not the right choice for a hobby woodworker. This is likely a super heavy duty jigsaw that a professional going through lots of heavy material would need. That same person would not get the same results from a cordless saw like you mentioned.
