Looks to be the same price on the Lenovo website
https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/lapt...8EL10S9990

Was looking for more details specs (upgradeability & windows version)
Can't say this makes sense to me, but it looks like this laptop is speced with win10Pro and the more expensive version with a bigger SSD is 10 home (neither says S mode)

After some digging it seems this is the maintenance manual
https://download.lenovo.com/consu...201903.pdf
no mention of changing the memory or adding more. (OP mentioned On-board, but this suggests no extra slot either :-( )

Both the memory and storage are "on board", so upgrades are not possible.

Here's spec details about the 14w - https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/...Lenovo_14w

This appears to be a budget windows version of a Chromebook, targeted primarily to education. Nevertheless, at this price, it would be a good option as a first laptop for a younger child.

Several things:

it's windows 10 pro. not s mode.
for this price we got FHD!
Type-c charging!

If it has a SATA port, or even M.2, that will be perfect. I have spares SSDs to install..

i don't need it, but want to buy another cheap laptop...

The manual does have a section for removing SSD. Looks like m.2. Maybe it's only for SSD model? this one is eMMC. does it have an m.2 port?

It have USB... why not just plug in the External USB HDD?

For you kids, External USB HDD is like the cloud except it doesn't need data connection but a cable connection. laugh out loud

I think it's better you plug in a 256GB micro sd. It has a built in MicroSD card reader. much more convenient.

in fact that's what i'm planning to do if it doesn't have a m.2 SSD port. Wish it has a spare SSD port though. that'll be much faster.

The Lenovo PSREF site indicates, "eMMC 5.1 (embedded Multi Media Card) flash memory or M.2 SSD on board". So for this model, I'm 99% sure that even if it was an SDD, it would be "on board"...no slot.

What's better...this or the Chromebook for 150? My 13 year old needs a new laptop.
