At this higher end of the MacBook Pro line-up I think waiting for next years model makes more sense. It looks likely to get the scissor keyboard and there are strong rumors at least one version will be more serviceable (perhaps even upgradeable) which power-users have been crying out for.

Buying a $2k + tax laptop and having it effectively beyond economic repair if anything on the mainboard fails, and everything is on the same board, is a scary situation to risk. Check the notes on ifixit: https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Mac...h_Bar_2019

Costco has a 60? 90? Day no questions asked money back — plus their price is $400 below what's showing on the Apple Store — I think if a cheaper better laptop materializes at the end of this month I may switch to that. Also Costco has a 2 year on these (even without AppleCare) , and Apple offers a Keyboard Service Program https://support.apple.com/keyboar...-notebooks

Apple is likely about to have a major release on their top of the line Macbook Pro (a 16" MBP is rumored to be coming this month). This is a great deal from a great seller if this is the laptop you want, but I just thought I'd mention the newer model is likely imminent.

The new model will also likely be $3,000 or more as well

That being said I would TOUCH a Macbook built from 2016 to 2019, the keyboard is THAT bad

The latest revision is actually quite nice with a failure rate in line with the previous gen. It's not perfect but a huge improvement from the OG butterfly keyboard.

Did you mean you "would not"? Because I own a 2016 and have to agree with you if you are saying the keyboard is bad. I am done with Apple after this one anyway.l am tired of Apple censoring and getting into politics. Also, Windows now kicks the !@#$ out of OSX. I never thought I would say that. I feel kind of dirty now.

For me it isn't the quality, but the feel of the keyboard itself. I have a 2016 MB Pro, and over 3 years later, and I am still not keen on the keyboard.

I got used to it eventually and actually kind of like it now. Prefer it to the mushy crap most laptops are equipped with, though I do prefer the KB on my old macbook air. But yeah It definitely is a personal thing.

Thinkpads have one of the best keyboards in the business and Apple seems to be getting worse with every update

i would NOT touch it

I was thinking about getting a Windows laptop esp after the new Surface Laptop 3 release but after a closer look at the specs of the machines the value really isnt there to justify leaving Mac Os for the far inferior Windows

The 15" with AMD Ryzen which is much less powerful than the Macbook Pro i7 comes in at $100-200 less

The 13" with it's i7 is basically the same price as the Macbook Pro 13"

It's hard to leave Mac OS because I do all my texting from iMsg and its far too inconvenient to text with my phone when i can type much faster with my laptop. However, my Macbook Air's screen is really killing me not even being 1080P

Another thing to consider is Windows machines typically struggle with basic tasks, my Macbook Air i7 dual core 8GB from 2014 runs faster than some of my coworkers new Windows laptops with 8GB and 5+ year updated processors. There is no excuse for why my laptop can run faster than a computer purchased 5 years later except for Windows

Im hoping the new Macbook 16" due at the end of this month will fix the keyboard issue so i can finally upgrade although i know its going to cost a pretty penny at 3K+ with warranty

Was $1899 back in August at Best Buy with student discount. Without student discount, it was $1999.

You must look at the dell xps oled version that has 9th gen 6 core processor and is retailing around $1500.
